Deccan Chargers beat Bangalore; go to four points

IPLpro Staff - 23 Apr 2009

The Deccan Chargers beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 24 runs in their second match at Cape Town to get to four points from two matches.

The Challengers continue to remain at two points after having played three matches.

Batting first the Chargers scored 184 in their allocated twenty overs, thanks mainly due to a smashing 45-ball 71 from Adam Gilchrist and an equally belligerent fifty by Rohit Sharma.

In reply, the Bangalore team got off to a bad start – losing Jesse Ryder first up – and despite a half century by Virat Kohli and a 48 by Rahul Dravid crashed to 160/8 in twenty overs.
