The Rajasthan Royals will meet the Delhi Daredevils in the 50th match of the tournament, and will look to put one across them to strengthen their chances of making it to the semi-finals.
The Daredevils have already qualified for the knock-out, but the Royals (29/5 at Betfair to win tournament) have 13 points from 12 matches, and a loss here will mean that they will have only one match to secure their spot in the semis.
The Royals had won a very close game against the Mumbai Indians, thanks to a brilliant captain in Shane Warne and an equally dazzling last over by Munaf Patel (9/2 at Stan James to be the most economic bowler). Warne (9/2 at Stan James to be most economic) himself had bowled his four overs for 24 runs only and scalped three wickets despite there being reports of him being unfit before the match. One isn’t quite certain yet, on his availability for this game.
Delhi (4/6 at Stan James to win match) will be propped by the presence of Virender Sehwag (7/2 at Ladbrokes to be top Delhi batsman), but his form will be of a great concern. For now though, it is the unlikely duo of T.Dilshan (4/1 at Stan James to be highest scorer in Delhi inning) and A.B. de Villiers (4/1 at Sky Bet to top Delhi batting charts) who continue to impress with their dazzling stroke-play, while Gautam Gambhir – like his buddy Sehwag – continues to fritter away starts. Dilshan’s chance to get a good score are high as he has been asked to open the inning by the team management; something he has begun to do well for the Sri Lankan team as well.
Their bowling saw Dirk Nannes (9/2 at Stan James to be most economic bowler) been rested in the previous game to give Farvez Maharoof a chance, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience for the Sri Lankan bowler. This match may see Glen McGrath get into the side, though the rustiness will definitely be a factor going against this great Australian bowler.
Rajasthan’s batting will greatly revolve around Ravindra Jadeja (6/1 at Ladbrokes to be top Rajasthan batsman), but will need one of Graeme Smith (3/1 at Stan James to be highest Royals scorer) or Yusuf Pathan (5/1 at Betfred to be top Royals batsman) to give it the necessary impetus. Rob Quiney’s (5/1 at Ladbrokes to be top Rajasthan batsman) half century in the previous game will stand him in good stead and boost his confidence, after he had a few indifferent games to begin with.
