The Chennai Super Kings went to the top of the points table with four wins and nine points after they beat the Deccan Chargers by 78 runs at Buffalo Park in east London.
 
Batting first after winning the toss, Chennai smashed a 178 in their twenty overs, thanks to a whirlwind 43 off only 26 deliveries by Matthew Hayden, and a well-compiled half century by skipper M.S.Dhoni. M. Vijay hit a 31 while opening with Hayden.
 
In reply, the Deccan innings was in tatters very early, when they lost their top three batsmen with next to nothing on the board, Both Adam Gilchrist and Herschelle Gibbs scored a duck
