The Deccan Chargers staved off an impressive challenge from the Chennai Super Kings and won by six wickets and three balls to spare.
Batting first Chennai’s impressive start was offset by some really quick wickets towards the middle overs and this restricted the final score to 165/6. Matthew Hayden was again the top-scorer with 49, while Jacob Oram remained unbeaten on 41.
In reply, the Deccan Chargers had a rollicking start as Adam Gilchrist and Herschelle Gibbs tore the opposition bowling apart and at one stage managed to reach 60 in the first four overs.
Gilchrist’s wicket slowed the scoring down, but Gibbs held fort till the end and guided his team to their fourth successive win.
