After days of suspense, Brendon McCullum has been named as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders for the second season of the Indian Premier League. John Buchanan had earlier spoken about the multiple captaincy theory and had said to have pitched for trying out different captains for the same match for different roles. This had not gone down too well with many including former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, and snow-balled into a controversy involving all and sundry. This announcement of McCullum replacing the incumbent Sourav Ganguly does not come as a big surprise as the former is expected to play in the entire tournament and has captained the New Zealand team before.
