The Mumbai Indians beat the Chennai Super Kings with relative ease in the very first match of the Indian Premier League-II. Chennai skipper, M.S. Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first under heavy overhead conditions, and had restricted the Mumbai team to 95/3 in the 14th over, but a cameo from Abhishek Nayar saw them finish with 166.

In reply, the runner-up from the previous edition kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and folded rather meekly falling short of the Indians’ total. Tendulkar’s well-compiled half century, which he made by carrying his bat and guiding the youngsters won him the Man-of-the-Match award.
