Punjab beat the Mumbai Indians by a slender margin of three runs in the second match of the day at Kingsmead in Durban.
Batting first, the Kings could manage only 119 in their twenty overs. This was mainly possible due to an unbeaten knock of 45 by Kumar Sangakkara.
In reply, the Indians were in trouble early, losing both Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya early, and never quite managed to recover from these blows.
J.P. Duminy did score a fifty, but in the end, the target proved to be three runs too many.
